Who Am I?

My photo
I live in a small town, where very little happens, yet I follow the world in hopes in that one day things will be different. I gather information from around the world and develop my opinions and then share them with others. Not in the hopes of changing minds, but in the hopes of producing thought.

In the Beginning there was Blog, and the Blog was GOOD!

First off, Welcome.

This is a place for me to vent my frustrations and my experiences and hope that my pain can become your salvation. No I claim no rights to being a Messiah! I am just a simple person, trying to make a scraping to survive. Just like most of you out there.

Just a brief description of what most of my blogs will about and what my intentions are.

I am going to be describing many instances and opinions that I have had in my life where things have taken place where one would wonder "What If?". It is the most annoying and yet the most tempting path.
I will say that I have no regrets, I am happy with the person I have become, though I am disappointed in the situation. I am going to impart my knowledge of events on to you so that when the time comes to make a choice, you have options.

I will try and post once a week, though I am not infallible and my life takes precedent over a computer. <----- First nugget of Wisdom :)
Also I am no professional in grammar, I type it as it comes to me.

So here goes...

Since we are all here in one fashion or another, all reading the same blog from one electronic device; more probably a PC. Forgive me Mac users... I will start with the overindulgence that we, as a community of networked peoples, have with all electronics devices. These include Computers, Handheld's, Video Games, Portable gaming systems (i.e. -PSP, Game Boy, and any other $5 piece of plastic you can get from Wal-Mart), MP3 players, Video Players, and the ubiquitous CELL PHONE!

Here is my most recent encounter with the latter...

Where I work, and I won't tell :), I have a plethora of customers. Tonight was no difference. I introduced myself to a customer, and offered my assistance. The customer then replied to my initial inquiry, "Just a sec". I replied with a courteous, "Not a problem, take your time". This to most people in my position would be an annoyance on the part of the customer, and yes it was to me as well. If you have the patience of a god then you would have been better off than I was, especially after the hundred customers before who tend to delay when they are at the position of ordering a product.

A quick jump off of topic. When you go to any place where and order is to be placed of any kind, it is very nice to have some minuscule knowledge of what the hell you want! If you are not prepared you should not be in line. If you require help to place an order, ask for it before you get to the damned counter. As a customer rep (God the Politically Correct bug has already infected this blog, I'll make a mental note to kill it later). We are there to provide a service to you, yes we get paid, but we are not paid in Patience. There is a symbiosis that takes place between the one who places the order and the one who takes it, and if you are too dammed retarded to know which one you are, and actually want the order taker to tell you what you want, then I only have one suggestion for you...GO BACK TO KINDERGARTEN!

One rant down, a trillion to go.

Back on track though. I started doing other responsibilities that I had to take care of at my job site while this person who has requested a second to think about what they wanted. Approximately one minute later I kindly responded, "Is there anything I can help you find?".
Needless to say this was definitely the incorrect answer and I did not win a prize except a quick lashing of a vile tongue.
To those of you out there that read this and have a dirty mind, wash it now, it wasn't that type of lashing. The customer started very bitterly on how she was forced to wait for me to take their order, this went on for a good 30 seconds, which seemed like an eternity to me.
After getting my chance to start the conversation again, and apologizing for something I did not do intentionally, which by the way is a very degrading and unavoidable part of many customer service jobs, the epiphany came to me that the person was on their cell phone having an ongoing conversation! No, the phone call did not end when the berating started, I know this because after the person tore me a new one, she told the unknown callee that I was in fact a Jackass.
After absorbing the snide remark about my appearance and my total brain power the order was finally taken, and YES, I had to help the person choose what they wanted because they were not ready. I was very glad when this particular 4 minutes of my life was over. Because the thought of brutally beating someone over the head with a headset, though mentally invigorating and refreshing, can only bring more stress to your current situation. A good helpful suggestion would be to drop the whole affair from your mind as soon as it is over, though this rarely happens, still give a shot, cuz in the end you will wind up saving your sanity.

So many of you would have been asking the obvious, didn't you see that the person had a Cell Phone?
The answer would be no, since I unfortunately was in a Drive-Through position...Damn, narrowed the identify of my job haven't I?

Some might also be wondering, why is this important?

Simple, the Cell Phone has brought us many new and amazing things. Namely the ability to stay in touch mostly anywhere and it is a great tool in emergencies. However, like anything, it is an addiction that will wind up affecting all of those around you eventually. You do not, I repeat DO NOT need to have your cell phone plugged into your ear canal for every hour of the day. Doing so shows nothing more that utter contempt to those like us and the others around you. Now I am not saying that having a long conversation is bad, quite the contrary. I am simply stating that moderation is the way to go here. All of us that have cell phones, and I do too, already know the proper "Rules" of courtesy so there is no need for me to give my opinion on that.

In short...cell phones are a piece of technology, NOT a piece of YOU!

We all live together, whether or not we interact. We should use technology as a tool, not let the tool use us. Remember, there was probably a time when you were a child and just the simple act of looking at a bug was interesting. That was interaction within a place I like to call the real world. A place where all of us, including that lady who called me a Jackass, lives. Regardless if she knew it or not, and I am betting on the not.

In ending, if you ever wanted a new understanding of the old phrase, "Take time to smell the flowers." this is the perfect time. The real world awaits, and so does my sanity. :)

Whose There?
